Camden Center for Environmental Transformation

Junior Urban Farmers

An important dimension of the work of the Center is to provide opportunities for the young people of Waterfront South to develop skills related to sustainable living. An important program that advances this dimension is the Junior Farmer program that is supervised by Andrea Ferich. Through this program young people are employed by the Center for Transformation to work with Andrea in the Greenhouse and the community gardens, maintaining those facilities and managing agricultural production. The Junior Farmers are also learning valuable nutritional lessons, and are learning how to prepare the produce that their labor, as well as the Earth's generosity, produces.

The Junior Farmers work 6 hours a week during the school year, and up to 20 hours a week during the summer. The Center currently employs three Junior Farmers. We want to maintain and, if possible, grow this program. You can join this program at whatever level of donation you desire. Some examples,

  • Sponsor one junior farmer for 6 months at 6 hours a week: $840
  • Sponsor one junior farmer for one month at 12 hours a week: $360
  • Sponsor two junior farmers for one month at 6 hours a week: $360
  • Sponsor one junior farmer for one month at 6 hours a week: $180

If you are interested in sponsoring a Junior Farmer, please contact Andrea Ferich at aferich@gmail.com or at 856-283-1338.
